Waterloo (Teoria estetica) è una raccolta di quartine composte sulla struttura dell’indice di Teoria Estetica di Theodor W. Adorno.
I 158 testi brevi, distribuiti in 12 sezioni e uniformati a un medesimo criterio di lunghezza e di quasi puntuale occorrenza della parola «opera», sono stati composti tra il 2016 e il 2017, anche se aperti a successive riscritture e adattamenti.
Ogni sezione è introdotta da un titolo tra parentesi quadre, e ogni singolo testo da un titolo tra parentesi tonde. Si tratta rispettivamente di tutti i titoli delle sezioni e dei paragrafi di Teoria estetica di Theodor W. Adorno, nella traduzione di Enrico De Angelis per l’edizione Einaudi del 1975, poi 1977, da cui sono state escluse le due sezioni conclusive Paralipomena e Protointroduzione.
Le frasi dell’indice adorniano, ripercorso fedelmente nel suo ordine, fanno da sipario e palcoscenico alla drammatizzazione di un vago concetto di opera d’arte.
Waterloo (Aesthetic Theory) is a collection of 158 quatrains composed on the structure of the index of Aesthetic Theory by Theodor W. Adorno.
The 158 short texts, distributed in 12 sections and standardized to the same length and almost punctual occurrence of the word “artwork”, were composed between 2016 and 2017, although they were open to subsequent rewrites and adaptations.
Each section is introduced by a title in square brackets, and each individual text by a title in round brackets. They are respectively all the titles of the sections and paragraphs of Theodor W. Adorno’s Aesthetic Theory, in the translation by Enrico De Angelis for the Einaudi edition of 1975, then 1977, from which the two final sections Paralipomena and Draft Introduction were excluded.
The sentences of Adorno’s index, faithfully traced in its order, act as a curtain and stage for the dramatization of a vague concept of artwork.
